The Will
He made his way down the hill towards the farmhouse. For a moment, the lush green of the surroundings distracted him and he paused to take everything in. If only she would agree. He pushed aside his doubts and continued.
In the living area, she waited anxiously to tell him the news. Her old man had been clear in the will. Merge the two farms. He said nothing about merging of bodies.
Her hands trembled when she opened the door to his knock. ‘The doctor told me everything. The baby needs a father.’ And then he smiled. ‘And I need you.’

Love this love story. Your words always reach into my heart! Well done, Celestine.
Just one typo–in the first paragraph, I think you meant “distracted,” as opposed to “detracted.”

This is a wonderful story. I thought of Mary and Joseph.
readinpleasure said:
Thanks Kim. I can see why; the anxiety re3felcts Joseph and Mary’s anxiety when Mary found herself pregnant with Jesus.
