Missing
The croaking of the school bell was a relief to the pupils and Ms Kumi watched her class skip out with a wicked grin, thinking of the test she would administer after the break. Teaching in this deprived school was a challenge she was determined to overcome.
She got up to visit the washroom only to notice Esi behind her desk. “Aren’t you going for break?” The girl sniffed, wiping her nose.
Lately, Esi’ schoolwork was lagging. A discreet note to her parents had been ignored.
“What’s the matter?”
“My father didn’t come home yesterday.” She whispered, in tears now.
