Done for Carpe Diem Haiku Shuukan. And also for Recuerda Mi Corazon.
The emphasis is still on GRACE (enlarge your capacity of compassion) as defined by Joan Halifax, a Zen Buddhist, with greater emphasis on “being one with nature.”
Silver Web

in the velvety darkness
glint of silver web
Nice.
Thank you, Nana.
This reminds me of (and perhaps it will be soon) a time in my yard (at dawn) when the spiders webs adorn my trees. And I have to pay close attention not to disturb their silver homes.
Just to inform you I am having issues with WP comments and put up a page at Gems: A A A Ack!!! (etc.) Hope it is a problem WP can address and fix sooner than later.
Hmm, Jules, Africa and superstition. There’s popular superstition in my country and I dare say in African countries, about the evil inherent in being entangled in the web of a spider. Sometimes, you don’t see the web and as you open a door or pass by a window, you are enmeshed in it. This is considered as bad luck; and so even in the dark the glint of silver seems ominous!!! 🙂
I was able to comment on your blog post. i hope you were able to read it. 🙂
I was able to get your comment – Thank you.
Spiders are such industrious and useful creatures. When I think of the icky webs I think of grade B movies that have exaggerated amounts of discarded web in haunted houses.
🙂
Lol! Maybe our superstition may not be unfounded after all. 🙂
dearest, we seem to be awakening to the same glorious light. i love your Silver Web.
thank you for a miracle shared.
The pleasure is mine, dear Rebecca. So glad you are on your feet. 🙂
Very nice.
Kiru, thanks.
I never would have thought of a silver web without your words. Thanks for that miracle.
Ow, Judie, you are so welcome. 🙂

But what of Anansi? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anansi
Yep, Ananse; he is full of cunning in our folklore. 🙂
It is so good to spot that silver lining (or web) in the dark! Lovely haiku.
Thank you Jennifer. 🙂
Silver and black make a beautiful combination.
Gemma, thanks. 🙂
Beautiful! Very Zen-like.
Ow, thanks so much. 🙂
scary, huh?
Yeah, and I must confess, I sometimes believe in that superstition. 🙂
Which superstition?
A spider’s web perhaps
You’re right, Amrit. 🙂
Absolutely beautiful haiku… I see a spider’s web with the sun low in the sky, on of my favorite metaphors for how we are connected with all that is.
Life can be so intriguing, Laura. One of my blogger friends just described the spider’s web as an architectural feat and I find that so remarkable, you know. 🙂
A big kiss my darling
Hugs my dear. 🙂
Beautifully said … a lovely take on the prompt!
Georgia, thank you.
Dark captured me, as well, this week.
🙂 Thanks Annie.
That’s how spider webs get you, hidden until it is too late and you’ve walked through them. Then not only have you ruined an architectural feat but also have ick over your face.
Ste J dear, I really love your comments, I do. You are the only one who will talk about the spider’s web being an architectural feat and indeed, it is a most remarkable observation and I was struck by it. But of course some of us here only think of the web as being an ensnarement of evil proportions. 🙂
That is the beauty of the web, it is eye catching bit holds dangers. I love to see an icy web, it is one of the best things about Autumn and Winter, it is always accompanied by silence as well I have noticed.
Ah that velvety night…love the nights…well done, Celestine. As I get older I am less afraid (although startled at times) by spiders’ webs…so industrious, so tenacious…one kept reappearing at my side mirror on my car…every day…most times I would leave it and if I didn’t drive too fast, it would stay put for over a week!
Thanks Oliana. I’m afraid superstition is so steeped in our culture and beings that I always view the spider’s web with an ominous eye. No matter how appealing on my blog. 🙂
Well I did freak out when that itsy bitsy spider with a fat body was crawly near my bed last night. I have my superstitions with black cats my mom instilled in us.
Lol! Me and cats are poles apart, whether black or any colour. 🙂
🙂
Silver lining hidden behind the gloomy clouds. Suggests hope.
Indeed yes. 🙂
Very nicely done!
Thank you Dolores. 🙂
