Wandering Crow
from the tree top
hidden from view
the nest of a wandering crow
2
from the tree top
emptiness dropped down
in a cicada shell
silent sound drowns out the cries
crushing against the rebirth

I was wondering what you’d do with wandering crow. I love it.
readinpleasure said:
Thank you Nana. It was actually an ‘agony’ writing it. 🙂

This is very powerful Celestine and stirs a lot inside of me. I love the image of the wandering crow and the piece that follows says so much in “silent sound.” Thank you!

Lea, thank you so much. I’m glad to read that this resonated. 🙂

Just this morning I watched a crow being chased by three very much smaller birds. I imagine they were angry at the crow for invading their nest(s). The crow in your haiku is smart to keep its nest hidden!

Lol. Thanks. Survival instincts I guess.

Both crow and cicada are native to my desert home. This is very nice.

When I first read the link to your post I thought it said “my wandering cow”. I grew up on a farm. Cows wander. Then I realized it was “wandering crow”. That’s not such a straightforward topic for me.
You did a great job with this.
readinpleasure said:
Thank you, Alice. I had to laugh at your comment. But then it wasn’t an easy prompt for me too. Cows I can related to, not cicadas. 🙂
Alice Keys said:
Yes. I grew up on a farm. I can relate to cows.
And it just goes to show that you can’t predict a reader’s response, eh? 😉

I agree. 🙂

Love the images here, especially the contrast in “in a cicada shell…silent sound drowns out the cries”.

Oh these are lovely…I missed your offerings at CP. I could not get my head around that wandering crow this time…your completion is lovely…it was not an easy Tan Renga either.

I agree, Oliana. I struggled over this prompt. 🙂 Thanks.
