Done for Carpe Diem Haiku Shuukan. And also for Recuerda Mi Corazon.
The emphasis is on A in G R A C E (enlarge your capacity of compassion) as defined by Joan Halifax, a Zen Buddhist, with greater emphasis on “Attaining to Self Other.” Much similar to the Christian JOY, acronym for Jesus first, Others next, Yourself at last.

Beautiful haiku, Celestine. I can see the rain drops in my minds eye 🙂
Tiny, thank you. 🙂
Now, if the rain in California and Texas would just modulate itself to fall longer, more gently, so as not to create flash floods. To be nice, tidy haiku-like rain (desperately needed).
Meriak, I do hope it rains in California just as you’ve described. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
These words and the images they bring are lovely!
Thank you Judie.
ah; its still scorching hot here, i have to water the new plants i bought, i leave the older ones to the their resilience
thanks for dropping by my blog today
much love…
My pleasure, Gillena. It looks as if this heat is a global thing.
A beautiful Haiki Celestine, thank you for creating and sharing it. I love the joy that rain can bring to all creatures and life, you depict it so wonderfully with so few words.
Claire,; it’s always a joy having you here. Thanks so much for the lovely compliment. 🙂
So much life in your verses Celestine!
Thank you Lea. Water is life. 🙂
There’s something very special about he scent of rain on parched earth.
Truer words. 🙂
The sky looks like it is trying to rain but no drops here in the desert yet.
Gemma, hope it rains and soon. 🙂
I really like the middle haiku – since basil is one of the herbs I planted in my rolling garden. I’ve even used the basil in several dishes 😉 .
I wish all who need rain get some relief soon. I read that in California there are new restrictions in place. And one of the water ways that was in the news barely had enough water to hold the pier and the boats tied to it.
Hmm Jules, reading about the California situation both shocked and saddened me. I thought only Africa had such situations.
I recently planted basil in my small garden, but alas. It is drying up fast, despite the said rains mentioned above. It’s a plant/herb/spice I really miss in my dishes. The plant was very common when growing up but I hardly see them around anymore. Until recently when I traveled out of town for a funeral and saw all over the place. I h;ad some uprooted for me for re-planting. But it’s not doing so well.
There are others states too – water is in short supply.
Florida even surrounded by water – oceans does not have fresh water. They have been in a drought for less time than California, but 5 to 7 years is still to much.
I believe a good portion of Australia is also in drought.
Perhaps you could put some potted herbs inside? Depending on the soap you use for washing you could water the plants with less pure (dirty) water? I know that some plants can be cleansed with soapy water at least some of the larger almost plastic looking leaves.
I hope your basil makes it.
Why is it that all year round, the rain is hated but then when it comes to Spring it’s a celebration, perhaps we are less miserable because everybody starts posting pictures of gambolling lambs…I know of no other creature who has ever gambolled come to think of it.
Lol, Ste J. 🙂
Lovely and so well expressed and penned!
Happy Weekend to you,
