Haiku My Heart: Rebirth

Done for Carpe Diem Haiku Shuukan. And also for Recuerda Mi Corazon.

Emphasis is on the E; Engage, enact ethically. Then end the interaction and allow for emergence of the next step. This is the final step in Joan Halifax’s G.R.A.C.E. method. And it’s all about closure. We live in a time when science is validating what humans have known throughout the ages: that compassion is not a luxury; it is a necessity for our well-being, resilience, and survival.

APED – Prompt 19: Rebirth

Done for A Prompt Each Day, a daily dose of inspiration. Today the prompt is the quote below:

QuotedPrompt3

Rebirth

today my memory failed me

searching the abyss of despair

for that gloom hugging me like a second skin

today my memory failed me

as I listened to that cacophony of words,

searching for the deep resonance

that used to caress me to sleep.

I almost grasped it,

but then it slipped through my gaping fingers,

a snarl slapped me instead.

today my memory failed me,

gliding through the haze of lies based on aspects of truths,

the shaky facade of carefully coated words slipping

to reveal the bare bones of

semantics in its degraded form.

today my memory failed me,

delving deep into yester-years

to desperately seek a day

when the moon stood still

on a fast wilting bed of roses

the thorns drawing blood

from you and I

today my memory played tricks on me you know.

my memory failed me.

my  memory refused to

regurgitate the left-over of a passion long gone cold

passion that now sits in my belly

waiting to pass out in a cremation of rebirth
