Done for Haiku My Heart and for Carpe Diem.
Vigil
bedside vigil
his breath slowly fading
with my memories
Celestine… this is so poignantly beautiful. It touches my heart and pauses me… to remember…
Lea, thank you. So humbled at your words. 🙂
This one is very sad.
Indeed it is, Rall.
When my MIL passed we received a huge Peace plant. My home is really not big enough and the windows not quite in the right direction for the sun it needed. After a year and a half… I found a new home for it. I am not sure why people gift plants at such a time as loss. But my memories of her are not associated with the plant so I did not feel guilty about gifting it to a place that would bring others joy.
Over here, I know quite a few people who would heave a sigh of relief over the MIL’s death, bad as it may sound. 🙂
I’m sure those that received that plant were grateful. 🙂 It would serve a better need there. 🙂
this brings back a vivid memory at the bedside of my beloved
Nonnie, I pray those memories sustain you in more ways than one. Thanks my friend. 🙂
your haiku vigil speaks deeply to many of our hearts. so much so that i am lost in silent memories.
Ow Rebecca. This haiku is so personal to me as I was not at my father’s bedside when he died. 🙂 All I have is memories I pray will never fade. 🙂
Such a sad and accurate haiku.
Hmm, Nana. Thanks. Have a lovely weekend my friend.
Celestine, this is straight from your heart. Thank you for sharing such an intimate thought.
Judie, you are so right. Memories of my father I hope will never fade even as his breath slipped away in my absence. Thank you dear Judie. 🙂
A sadness….you know how to touch people, you really do..
Hamish, what can I say? This haiku is so personal to me and as I have come to realise from the comments, many others too. 🙂
Fading peacefully.
Indeed yes! 🙂
Quiet reflection. Very nice.
Thank you Kimmy. I still regret not being at my father’s side at the time of his passing!
No regrets for things you can’t change.
That’s true my friend. 🙂 Thank you.
Sometimes I wonder which is better: to fade away, or to blaze out like a comet?
The Light Leaps In
The latter I guess. 🙂
so tender
Thank you Candy.

This sounds like someone on the death bed. Not a happy one, but adorable all the same, Celestine.
