Today is tanka day at Rajani’s. Somehow, I’ve never been good with the tanka. 🙂 So this is just a small poem.
Fatal Kiss
a smile
like the sun
peeks through slits of darkness
scented rays hug me
in a kiss of death

It started out so positive and then you hit us with a line of darkness. Nice.
LOL, Nan, sometimes the mind goes morbid you know.
Ouch! What a jolt in the end! feeling the power of word here. So well put, Celestine.
Thanks, as always Sumana. 🙂
Beware the scented rays! Only danger there!
Of a truth! 🙂
The clue for me? Was the smile “like” the sun…
Yes! 🙂
Dark, even a smile like a sun… things can go so wrong sometimes. Thanks for sharing Celestine!
My pleasure, Rajani 🙂
a smile like the sun
peeks through slits of deep darkness
scented rays hug me
in a final kiss of death
now night has truly fallen
There, now you have a tanka, 5-7-5-7-7 🙂
What a beautiful rendition. You are the best Gilly. 🙂
Lovely words expressing the yin and yang of life ~ joy and sorrow ~
Happy Weekend to you,

Interesting perspective, Carol. Thanks for your words. 🙂
What!! What kinda ending is that? Ah ah, take it back, lol, lol. You got me with htis one.☺☺
LOL, Pat. You have me laughing so hard. 🙂
I see even Hamish was shocked, and he’s usually the one doing the shocking!! Good I made you laugh☺☺☺
I do agree with you there. Hamish likes to shock me, except that these days I’m no longer shocked at his wonderful poems; I’m used to him. 🙂
He does put pen to paper well doesn’t he ☺☺☺
🙂 🙂
Puts a shiver on the spine!
Indeed yes! 🙂
Dying in the heat of Death’s kiss
Exactly 🙂
….you shocked me with the killer last line, even more as you warmed me, embalmed me with the first few…in fact I am still subdued from the read….so well-crafted, but it hit…
Managua, thanks so much. You do have a way with words too my dear friend. Lovely compliment. 🙂
Slits of darkness and kiss of death…so many interpretations selon notre vécu…(depending what we are living at that moment)
Yes my dear friend. So many interpretations. Sometimes I do believe that love has many facets and in not being discerning, we are kissed by death; indeed, we die many times. Don’t we? 🙂
