Done for Carpe Diem. The challenge is to write a troiku based on the haiku below by my very self 🙂

Troiku

empty calabash
reflecting the fading sun
a beggar sits in gloom

empty calabash
no sweetness
in the beggar’s life

reflecting the fading sun
the penny
in his calabash

a beggar sits in gloom
watching the pennies go by
fading sun

Happy New Year to you all. 🙂 It’s taken me so long to write my first post of the year. I guess I was resting my mind but I come with good tidings! Happy to inform you that my troiku was the winning troiku in a Troiku Contest organized by Kristjaan Pannerman, host of Carpe Diem Haiku Kai (CDHK) and Michael Smeer of Haiku Pond Academy on Facebook. The contest was to create a Troiku based on the late Jane Reichhold’s haiku below:

golden shade
under the redwoods
evergreen violets

© Jane Reichhold

And to honour my win, Kristjaan has featured me as a special guest on his blog today. Please visit his blog and read all the wonderful things he has written about me. 🙂

Below is my wining troiku based on Jane Reichhold’s:

golden shade
where my pillow rests
a slice of sunlight

under the redwoods
a worm burrows deeper
into itself

evergreen violets
a butterfly seeks rest
on the gravestone

Feel like being a bit worldly and political today. 🙂

Political Roulette

a dead leaf

of falling leaves

waning moon

an exchange of colours

Done for Carpe Diem. Another attempt at the Troiku!

Crystal Cobweb

looking closely

in the velvety darkness

 glint of silver web

looking closely

a hint of dew

trailing the spider

==

in the velvety darkness

ensnared by your silver threads

that gossamer touch

==

glint of silver web

yet another autumn show

by the spider

Lio Sogi, love, Nature, romance, Troiku

Done for Carpe Diem.  The idea is to a write a haiku in the same sense, tone and spirit as Lio Sogi’s haiku below. Then the challenge is to write a Troiku based on the haiku we produced out of Sogi’s:

Both grasses and trees
waiting for the moon
dewy evening

My attempt

velvet evening

waiting for the moon

we melt into each other

Troiku

velvet evening

we trace the path

of the shooting stars

2

waiting for the moon

we follow the glow

of fireflies

3

we melt into each other

tracing the outline

of crystal dewdrops
