The Other Woman
Like a nymph on heat
She stole kisses
That were not hers
Like a Herodias
She mocked him
Who was not hers
Like a glass shattering
Into splinters
She broke a heart
That was not hers
And caused the tears
Of the wee ones
To flow copiously
From bewildered eyes
And with ugly
Unfeeling hands
She caused the death
Of the exquisitely tendered
Hibiscus
Because they were not hers
Faithless, thy name is woman
You who is the other woman
In a faithless marriage
(This is my muse at work, and not a castigation against women who might otherwise find themselves as the Other Woman)

Oh Marie, thanks for understanding. No matter how much the other woman may justify her actions, the fact still remains taht they casue so much havoc in families. Indeed, women are our oen enemies. 🙂

Is very sad when women treat other women such, when we should be standing strong for one another and helping to stabilize the sanctity of marriage, instead of being part of teh reasion it fails. Great write Celestine 🙂

This is wonderful, Celestine. Now, I have a request for you. Can you also write one about the faithless husband? I think the two poems together would be a glowing accusation for so much that is wrong in our relationships.

You are right, Susan. If the man does not go out looking, he woould not find the ‘Other Woman’ and so I will take up your challenge. 🙂

Yes–you are the lioness to write it, my friend!

Whilst I agree, let’s be fair: she would not be ‘the Other woman’ if the family man had not allowed her to be! If men thought with their brains instead of-
Well. 🙂
Great writing Celestine – and Happy New Year!

Yay. I get worked up when I see children from broken homes suffering. Perhaps it is because my home was broken too as a kid 🙂

Beautiful poem – and true that we don’t hear the family’s side of this kind of thing very often.

I hesitate to judge. But – men or women – why do they do these things?
It’s easy to blame the other. But – what about the one that has made the commitment to his/her spouse? I just don’t get it.
See – you got me going Celestine – LOL 😉

I get your argument, Rosy. But I guess there are some women who know very well that the guy is married and yet hang on,

marriage or not i dont like mate poachers that poach for fun/revenge or any other reason but love.

Trisha, even poaching for love is dicey. How can one profess to love something or someone that is not his/hers? But then issues like these do not have straight forward answers. 🙂

Celestine, why blame the woman alone? It takes two to tangle and tango. Yes, there is the pull factor from the other woman, but at times too, there is the pull factor from the philandering male with his lying sugar coated tongue. Read this
http://t.co/W0aEK3PQ. Most times, the other woman is a victim of the man who does not disclose all,or who tells her that he is on the verge of opting out of a relationship, who encourages her, who build her expectations etc etc. At times, “the asset owner” could be at fault too, making a case for a push factor. Read this http://t.co/0jlWj2K2.
So as you see, there are push and pull facors – not to talk of supply and demand factors, but now we stray into economics! Great poem.

Oh Noel, i agree with all your points raised above. I have read the articles and noted the contents as well. Thanks. We could go on and on, but another time will do. 🙂
Thank you so much for coming by. I will soon come out with another poem from the pov of the man. Then we can continue the discussion 🙂

would a lover/husband/partner be poached if he did not show himself to be poachable in the first place? Between the stimulus and the response, there is a choice. The faithless man hides behind the woman who could have been his victim!
readinpleasure said:
Too true, Noel. But there are some Jezebels out there who will go to great lengths just to make sure that the man’s defenses are all down. It can be vicious I tell you. 🙂
