The Cherita was created by al li. I’ve fallen in love with this lovely poetry form. And for each working day I shall endeavour to post a cherita a day on my blog. 🙂

Silence

they say silence is golden

but the silence
after the gunfire

is red
not even the flood
can wipe away the gore

Done for Carpe Diem. We are to complete Suzanne’s haiku below with our own lines of 7-7 syllables each.

(Suzanne’s)

red poppies of Troy
the blood of the fallen
bright on the grass

Mine

mixed with the tears of Helen

fitting dish served by the gods

The photo is by kind permission of Gilly. I’ve gone dark today. Is it any wonder? 🙂 This lovely photo took me to Pakistan.

Grapes of Wrath

And there were the heads

wantonly strewn to draw gasps

tin gods’ grapes of wrath

innocence nipped at the hem

even the clouds bow in shame

The photo is by kind permission of Gilly. Gilly aptly titled her post Petals of Loss. Please step over to read her poignant poem.  🙂 My heart is heavy within me this week for all the carnage going on in parts if not all of the world.

rivulets in wanton spree

feeding gods of war

Done for Haiku Horizons. Today, my haiku is about the pain I’m having in my heart, a physical one as I saw videos of the horrors going on in Iraq. Please if you have the time, visit Lotenna Blog. Kindly note that the pictures are disturbing, to say the least.

cutting, lingering

ache sits on my heart, I bleed.

oh ISIS, what next!

Poet At Play: Scourge

03 Thursday Oct 2013

Tags

land, plunder, rape, Scourge, war

Still experimenting with Nonets. Please enjoy.

Scourge

ever so smugly you take your share

of what is sacrilege to us

and of pride to my bedmate

taboo, my blood boils hot

spilled on fecund land

of brazen lust

and my blight

that is

you

I

tremble

with the fear

that makes me mute

hellish mischief gloat

in your hashish-glazed eyes

I glimpse a bit of your soul

black soil caked with blood of thousands

scourge of our land, plunder! let me die!
