This weeks prompt at Haiku Heights is Fortitude. My offerings:
(1) Fortitude
She bares all her teeth In a dizzying dazzling smile Woes hidden in heart(2) Fortitude
She bears all her woes With a straight face and great strides Life surely goes on(3) Fortitude

The first one went right to the prompt for me. Woman – often a synonym for fortitude! Well done!

Thanks a million, Wabi 🙂

I like the first one the best. Smiling as her heart is heavy. Good stuff

Thank you, Nana 🙂
Susan L Daniels said:
Love these! They certainly show fortitude 😉
readinpleasure said:
Glad you love them, Susan. 🙂 This week’s prompt is a difficult one.
Susan L Daniels said:
It really is. Fortitude in an of itself is not very haiku-like 😉
RoSy said:
I enjoyed all three.
But – Oh – how I can relate to the first one. I figure why pass on my worries to others. Not like they don’t have any of there own. Plus – I prefer to try to keep spirits up than being a downer. That would just place me in a worse mood.
readinpleasure said:
Wish I were like you, Rosy. I’m so emotional that any problem I have is easily worn on my face 🙂
RoSy said:
We’re all different Celestine. That’s what makes this world so interesting. And – interesting it is.
I bet I would be able to see your sweet smile no matter what though. 🙂
Alice Keys said:
All three are lovely and filled with fortitude. I especially like the bared teeth. Very primal and animal. Woman as lioness. Thanks for writing. Alice

One step at a time. Kind of like a story verse series. 🙂
I like the first one best. Though on a slightly different track…Reminds me of a song from Peter Pan…Never smile at a crocodile, you’ll be welcomed in by his welcome grin, while he’s imagining how well you’ll fit within his skin.
We all wear masks. Strength isn’t always shown.
Thanks for stopping by…
readinpleasure said:
Thanks for commenting and the the nice contribution, Jules. I smiled at the bit about the crocodile 🙂
Geosi said:
i love this haiku. its only in recent times and particularly through your blog that i am beginning to enjoy haiku. thanks for being there for me.
readinpleasure said:
Oh Geosi, what beautiful words to say. Thank you my brother. 🙂 You inspire me so much with your wonderful interviews and reviews. I am not able to review as many books as I would have loved to mainly because my reading is so rusty these days.
Reshma said:

I’m with the person in number one. No one would know what I was going through until I spoke. It’s not so much as it being a downer but rather that everyone has their problems. Over the past few years, people who really want to know have probed and gotten answers. I’ve also gotten better at not hiding my emotions, especially with close loved ones. They know when things are not good.
readinpleasure said:
I can’t hide my emotions at all. I also tend to talk about my problems to close friends and sometimes I just talk too much 🙂 Hope you are doing great, KK.
