My dear friend, Adjei Agyei Baah also from Ghana asked me to publish his haiku submission to CDHK on my blog for the pleasure of fellow bloggers. And so here it is: 🙂

Hello Celestine,
I really love all your magical waterfall haiku. Like i said before, CDHK has been bringing our hidden abilities to bare. I had always thought of taking a nature’s walk before I could write a good and honest haiku but for now I can draw from a past experience or pure imagination and still make it work.
All your ‘ku are really tasty except the 3rd one that I have a submission to make:
waterfalls not even the stars can dim all that sparkle
I had difficulty in accepting the star as an object that can dim or shroud rather than outshining or making another object more brighter. Here are my options for your consideration below.
waterfalls not even the darkness can dim all that sparkle
waterfalls not even the stars can outshine your sparkles
Below is my single waterfall piece written in response to Carpe Diem Haiku Kai:

Adjei my friend thank you so much for commenting. I appreciate your critique. It’s taken in good faith. I actually thought of using the word outshining to make it:
waterfalls
not even the stars
can outshine that sparkle.
But then the word ‘dim’ also works well in that, it’s used as a comparison between the two objects of nature, that is the stars and the brilliance of the waterfalls. In comparing the stars to the waterfalls, not even the brightness of the stars can dim the brilliance of the waterfall when placed in juxtaposition. It works both ways in that when bright objects are placed together, one either outshines or one either dims the brightness of the other, according to its characteristics. I don’t know if I make myself clear but I do hope you get the drift. :-).
Your haiku is excellent as always. 🙂

Celestine, I am basking in your silvery water sparkles. I love your choice of words. They have taken me far away today and I feel like I will wear “waterfall dust” (not much different than star dust) all weekend long…

Oh Lea, such a lovely compliment. I than you and I’m thrilled that you feel this way. 🙂
